My sister in the south of Chile. We are sitting at home next to the fireplace in our southern lake house when it suddenly began to pour uncontrollably. Had to rush into the lake to take this snapshot! - Camila Massu/National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest

i will never go without reblogging this. You’re a wonderful photographer! ^

There was this anthropologist who decided that he would investigate every society in the world that there ever was and ever has been and find the things that they all had in common. He then combined this list and if there was one society that did not have one of the things, that thing was taken off the list. So some of the things on the list were music, language, use of fire etc. and also an understanding of right and wrong, and every society believed that murder¬†was wrong and they all believed that rape was wrong. So what I don’t understand is why, when for the entire history of the world, people have believed rape is wrong, it is still happening as often as it is. Everybody keeps saying that boys need to be taught not to rape rather than teaching girls not to get raped, but the truth is that morality is an inborn trait and boys are born knowing that rape is wrong and they have known it is wrong for as long as humans have existed. When a guy rapes a girl, he knows exactly what he is doing, it doesn’t matter what she does, whether she was “asking for it”, he knows what he is doing is morally wrong. The reason a guy rapes a girls is purely because society lets him get away with it and because society defends him saying that he didn’t know what he was doing was wrong because she was asking for it or he was drunk. It’s fucking bullshit and it’s fucked up. Because you can’t argue that it’s human nature for a guy to want sex because it goes against human nature completely for a guy to rape someone.
